The early pipe-backed blade, broad and curved, with light pitting, but cleaned bright. The gilt brass hilt of 1796 light cavalry form and carved bone grip, with some chips and age-related damage. The hilt is secure on the tang. No scabbard. This was probably made for a British officer serving in India around the time of the end of the Napoleonic Wars.
