EL6327 - An ebony-gripped spadroon, dating to around 1770-1790. The straight 32.5 inch single-edged blade with false edge, in good condition with very dark patina, firm in the hilt. The iron guard and backstrap with matching dark patina - the guard has a very small amount of movement, though the rest of the hilt is tight on the tang. The guard features a lovely side-ring with lozenge cut-out. The ribbed ebony (or similar dark wood) grip of graceful form. No scabbard. Spadroons like these were non-regulation and predominantly carried by infantry officers around the time of the American War of Independence and up until the early Napoleonic Wars.
