EL6544 - French 1845/55 infantry officer's sword. Blade with grey patina and light pitting, the maker's engraving just about visible on the spine (see photos), but I cannot see a clear date. Good brown horn grip and the brass guard in good order. A little bit of movement in the hilt, as usual with this pattern. No scabbard. A modestly priced reasonable example of the pattern carried by most French officers and also sergeants in the Crimean and Chinese campaigns, alongside their British allies.
