Product Details

EL6462 - A very good example of a French M1822 light cavalry trooper's sabre, dated to 1853. The scabbard has some surface rust which needs removing, but the sword itself is in very good condition, with one of the cleanest blades (36 inches long) in original polish that I have ever seen on this model. The engraving to the spine of the blade is very crisp and this sword would have been in service at the time of the Crimean War. The scabbard however has one ring, so this sword must have remained in a regimental armoury for a few decades and might still have been in service in the 1890s or even later! The grip has all the leather and wire, and the hilt is solid on the tang. A good example, even featuring an original period leather sword knot.
