EL6475 - A lovely example of a pre-WW1 (around 1909 in this case*) Royal Scots (Lothian Regiment) officer's broadsword, or 'claymore', unusually with both scabbards preserved, complete with silk tassel and red felt guard liner. The Royal Scots (Lothian Regiment) regimental attribution is etched on the blade, together with the normal thistles and other Highland-related decoration. The hilt is in good condition, the shagreen and grip wire good, the screw nut at the pommel operational. The proof slug shows that this was top quality work by Pillin.
*Thanks to James Elstob for his work with the Pillin research.
