EL6193 - An Edwardian Royal Army Medical Corps (RAMC) officer's sword, by Phillips of Dublin. 1892 pattern blade on gilt gothic hilt, with fully chequered 1895 type backstrap. The blade firm in the hilt and in good bright condition, but with the remnants of some old varnish which needs cleaning off (it is the yellowish colour on the blade in the photos). This varnish has protected the blade well. The hilt is also in lovely condition and good shape, with the buff leather washer and the shagreen and wire of the grip in a good state. With plated steel scabbard, which has some corrosion requiring attention.
