EL6543 - A good example of an Edwardian light cavalry officer's sword, retailed by Jones and made by Pillin. Technically, all cavalry officers should have been using the 1896 pattern in Edward VII's reign, but surviving Edwardian and even George V examples of this light cavalry pattern show that not all of them complied with the new regulation. This is a really nice clean example, according to the proof slug made by top maker Pillin. The blade is great, with clear detailed etching. Everything is solid, and the hilt is also very good. In its matching scabbard. The sword knot has almost certainly been added in more recent times and seems to be for an infantry officer, but I have not removed it on the basis that very occasionally in India infantry officers carried cavalry swords (shown in photos), so it is not entirely impossible it is original to the sword.
