Product Details

EL6636 - An unusual Edwardian Indian Army cavalry officer's sword. The maker and retailer are unknown, but the quality is good. I suspect it might be the product of Mole. Marked ERI, showing the Imperial title was King Edward VII (dating therefore to 1901-1910). The scabbard is also typical of Indian Army swords, having the raised rib for the leather belt frog, and being unlined leather (so flexible, rather than the wooden lined examples). The condition is good, but there is a surface dusting of light rust to the hilt and scabbard mounts, which should clean off fairly easily. The blade is in good condition and quite a chunky example. There are some little edge nicks, and it is not clear whether this blade was service sharpened or not - I suspect it was sharpened, and then had the edge smoothed to make it safer for display. The edge should be restorable, but is perfectly presentable as it is. An interesting sword meant for combat in the pre-WW1 era.
