ELF35 - An early Wilkinson (pre-numbered) 1846 pattern Royal Navy officer's sword, dating to circa 1850-1853. Light patina to the blade and the bottom of the leather scabbard has broken off, but in generally good condition and would benefit from careful cleaning and restoration. The hilt firm on the tang and the folding guard drop working well. The blade quite bright with clear and detailed etching. The blade seems to have been service sharpened, so it seems likely that this was carried around the time of the Crimean War or invasion of China. A lovely and rare sword.
