Product Details

EL6781 - A good early Wilkinson infantry officer's sword, pre-numbered (so dating to 1845-1853). Given the placement of the Wilkinson etching, this probably dates to c.1845-1850. Regulation size and form, with brass hilt and 1845 pattern regulation fullered blade. The brass scabbard probably indicates an officer of Field Rank (Major or higher), so this was likely purchased close to 1845 in order to meet the new regulations, by an older officer who had served for enough years to achieve field rank. In good condition overall, with a bright blade, some mellowing of the etching from polishing. The hilt all firm, with working drop section, and good grip. Together with matching brass scabbard.
