Product Details

EL6317 - An 1845 pattern infantry officer's sword by Webb, dating to c.1845-1860. The blade is in good polish and with deep etching, though there are some edge nicks and the tip has been a bit reshaped. The hilt is loose on the tang and this would be the primary area of restoration to try and address. The guard is a bit misshapen, with the spring to the folding drop no longer working (this could be replaced). The grip is in good condition of both shagreen and wire, with the exception of one area of loss where the thumb rubs - obviously done during a long service life, it has even rubbed the wood area smooth underneath. Complete with scabbard. A worthy project, or fine to display as is.
