Product Details

EL6322 - An early numbered Wilkinson infantry officer's sword (numbered 7117 for manufacture in 1855), of standard 1845 pattern. The Wilkinson proof record unfortunately has no name recorded for this blade. The sword is in overall good condition, though would benefit from some light cleaning up. The blade seems to have been service sharpened and is mostly bright, with some patina and staining. The tip of the blade is a bit rounded/re-shaped. The etching is intricate and in good preservation. The blade is firm in the hilt. The brass of the hilt has nice old patina, though the guard has some deformation and the folding drop section spring is rather limp - it does function, but does not hold very tightly in position. The shagreen and grip wire are fairly good and the sword is complete with its original scabbard. A desirable early Wilkinson.
