EL6197 - A good example of the M1898 Dutch klewang, made by Luneschloss of Solingen. This is an earlier model with ribbed hardwood grip, though the scabbard appears to be slightly later, so this particular weapon may have been in service for decades. The edge is service sharpened and remains quite sharp, with some small edge nicks in a few places. The blade is totally solid in the hilt and the hilt is all tight. The wooden grip is in good condition and on the underside of the steel guard is a brass plate with regimental numbers. The leather scabbard with brass reinforcement is in generally good condition, though with the loss of the leather frog strap. A very nice example of the pattern and much rarer than the later slab-grip types.
