EL6286 - An early to mid-20th century Royal Navy officer's sword, 1846 pattern. Given that this model of sword has not changed much since 1846, they can be difficult to date, and this is no exception. The narrow straight blade means that it is probably WW1 or later, but the age of the sword knot and sword bag (which have officer's initials written on the inside) suggest to me that this is WW2 at the latest and probably more like WW1. There is no maker's name and the proof slug gives no clues. The condition is very good - I would say close to modern parade condition and with a little cleaning it would be parade standard easily. The blade is in high original polish with crisp etching. The white shagreen and grip wire are excellent. Everything is tight. The scabbard could do with some refurbishment, as it is a bit age worn.
