Product Details

EL6773 - A good early 1897 pattern (1897-1901) Royal Engineers officer's sword. Carrying the VR cypher and Mole's excellent etching, with great preservation of the original mirror polish and frost etching to the blade. The blade firm in the hilt and everything tight. The hilt does need some careful cleaning and slight restoration, and there are some light rust spots to the guard and backpiece, and the grip wire needs careful polishing. Complete with original field service scabbard with good plated fittings and original Sam Browne belt frog and hangers. Even complete with the original field service sword knot. A relatively rare sword, being both a VR 1897 pattern, and for the Royal Engineers, and by top quality maker Mole.
