Product Details

EL6964 - An 1827 pattern Royal Navy officer's sword, with quill-pointed pipe-backed blade. The dark patina to the blade and light pitting mean that the feint etching this blade would have originally had is now obscured, so I cannot precisely date this sword, other than to say it is definitely from 1827-1846, and probably in the first half of that span, due to the style of sword knot attachment. The hilt is firm on the tang, the grip is in good condition and the folding drop is nice and stiff, not floppy. Structurally this is a good sword, with everything nice and solid, the main flaw being the very dark patina on the blade and lack of scabbard. Priced accordingly.
