Product Details

EL6258 - A lovely example, dating to 1855 (numbered 7192, it was sold to a trade outlet according to the record) of an infantry officer's sword by Wilkinson. A lot of original mirror polish and frost etching surviving in very good condition, with some gilt remaining to the brass hilt also. The scabbard throat is numbered also, matching the sword. The blade has been service sharpened, so while it will not be possible to link this to a specific officer, it probably saw campaign use anytime from 1855 onwards. The blade, hilt, shagreen and grip wire are all good, the leather washer is present and the little wires even remain from the attachment of a blade leather liner inside the guard once. The scabbard is also in good condition, with supple leather, the only flaw worth noting being the steel insert at the end of the drag has dropped out during its life. A really great condition early Wilkinson.
