EL6150 - Early numbered (6555 for year 1855) Wilkinson infantry officer's sword. A Crimean War period infantry officer's sword, with slightly shortened and re-profiled blade (now 30 inches long instead of 32 inches). Blade with light pitting and patina, etching faint, but visible, including the early form of Henry Wilkinson's attribution. Hilt solid on the tang, with the tiniest bit of movement in the guard. Folding guard drop working well. Brass guard and backstrap in good shape, with good shagreen and grip wire. Housed in scabbard which fits the blade well, though I am not certain it is original to the sword.
