Product Details

EL6697 - A scarce 1892 pattern British Indian police officer's sword, made by Thurkle and retailed by an Indian outfitter. The blade with fairly dark patina, but I think that would polish up if desired. The etching quite shallow, but mostly clear. The hilt is in good shape and the sword presumably dates to 1892-1895, because it has not got the later 1895 style backpiece. There is a tiny bit of movement in the hilt on the tang. Complete with field service scabbard and Sam Brown frog. It's interesting to see that apart from the Thurkle proof slug, the guard has also been stamped with Thurkle's name.
