EL6393 - A very good light cavalry officer's sword, made by Pillin and retailed by Ranken of Calcutta, for an Indian Army or British Army serving in India officer. Carrying the VRI cypher, indicating Indian service. Dating to around 1885-1895, the impressively large blade is in bright polish with delicate and clear etching, with a service sharpened edge. It is firm in the hilt, and the hilt is in equally good condition, bright and clean, with excellent shagreen and silver wire grip. Together in its scabbard, which is in used, but good and bright condition.
