EL6108 - A tidy example of the iconic 1796 pattern light cavalry sabre by Thomas Hadley of Birmingham. Unfortunately lacking a scabbard, but otherwise in good condition, with nearly all of the leather remaining to the grip and a bright, clean blade, the maker's stamp clearly visible on the spine and Birmingham and other stamps on the forte. The hilt is generally tight on the tang, with a tiny bit of wiggle in the guard due to shrinkage of the leather washer. The tang peen and transverse rivet do appear to have been tampered with at some point, probably to tighten the hilt on the tang, but it is all fairly tidy. Feels great in the hand and in very nice condition overall for a 200 year old sword that was government issued.
