EL6381 - A Royal Engineers officer's sword, by Wilkinson (numbered 13929 for 1865), and carrying the initials and crest of Robert Charles Thornton Hildyard. Overall dark patina to the blade, but with extra detailed and crisp etching, which actually stands out more proudly against the dark background patina. The blade is firm in the hilt, with no movement. The hilt in good condition, good shagreen and grip wire. Complete with scabbard. Robert Charles Thornton Hildyard comes up in various searches, but I have not explicitly researched him, so there is some interesting potential there.
