EL6429 - An Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders officer's 'claymore', or basket-hilted broadsword and field service scabbard. Made by quality retailer Pillin and according to the serial number dating to 1884 or early 1885 (according to the research of my friend James Elstob). The plated hilt and shagreen grip are in very good condition, complete with red silk tassle. The blade is in reasonable condition, with areas of staining and a little light pitting here and there, which could be improved with some work. The scabbard is excellent and I suspect a later replacement, but of the correct pattern.
