EL6558 - A unique and highly detailed version of a British heavy dragoon officer's sword, of around the 1770s. Featuring a 3/4 basket hilt, in steel, with highly ornate floral lines and finials. The original leather-covered grip is intact, though has some movement on the tang. The globose pommel of typical form, all married to a backsword blade with double fullers, measuring 33.5 inches. The ricasso on one side carries George III's cypher and crown. The blade has been very finely and well sharpened, so whoever carried this likely saw active service around the 1765-1785 period.
