Product Details

A rare Prosser-type bladed late-Napoleonic era British light cavalry officer's sabre and matching scabbard. The sword probably dating to around 1810-1820, it features the famous broad yelman and pipeback associated with Prosser blades. The blade measures 34.5 inches. The hilt with Oriental influence and an extended pommel. The sword is devoid of any visible markings, has light pitting overall and the grip has lost the covering to the wood. Despite this, the sword is structurally sound and the hilt is firm on the tang. A rare and attractive sword, which would have been state of the art for an officer at Waterloo.
