EL6474 - A good Edward VII era example of the 1898 pattern infantry sergeant's sword, made by Wilkinson. The underside of the guard, where regimental designations are usually stamped, shows R.E.D.B, which may indicate the Royal Engineers Depot Battalion, however the hilt is lined with an extremely rare and distinctive red felt and blue edged liner, which seems to indicate a Scottish regiment. Perhaps a Royal Engineers depot in Scotland, or the sword was passed from one regiment to another during its service life. In any case, this is a really nice clean example of the pattern in bright condition and with that very rare and striking liner. Everything is solid and together with its scabbard, being made by Wilkinson, this is a great example for any collection.
