Product Details

EL6140 - An 1898 pattern infantry sergeant's sword. Much less common to find than officers' swords, these were government produced and regimentally stored and issued. This is a good example by Mole of Birmingham, made in 1900, with acceptance stamps. The blade is very clean and has been well service sharpened. This could well have been taken to the Boer War or China. The guard is a little pitted and with dark patina, as well as the remnants of some old gold paint in the recesses, so needs further cleaning. There is a tiny amount of movement in the guard, but the rest of the hilt is solid on the tang. The shagreen and grip wire are in good condition and the scabbard is also good, with a fair amount of the plating remaining.
