EL6643 - An interesting late-Victorian infantry officer's sword, featuring an 1845 pattern blade by Thurkle, which was updated with the new 1895 pattern hilt (either in 1895 or 1896). The blade has been extensively service sharpened, the point has been made more 'pointy' and the etching includes the officer's initials (though the last letter has been partly removed by the subsequent sharpening!). So it might be possible to identify the officer, but it might not be. The hilt is firm on the tang. The original sword know is still in place. The scabbard and hilt should clean up well and the sword would benefit from some light restoration.
