EL6403 - An 1895 pattern infantry officer's sword by Edward Thurkle. Made in 1895 or 1896, this was one of the last swords made by Thurkle before they were bought by Gaunt & Sons in 1897. This sword pattern was also replaced in 1897 by the new pattern, so this sword has a very specific dating. In good condition, with nearly all of the nickel plating remaining to the hilt (just a couple of rust spots), the blade with light patina but generally bright and with crisp etching. Everything tight and solid. The scabbard is interesting in that it is soft leather, with nickel fittings, which have been covered by leather to protect them and prevent reflections.
