ELF125 - An 1890 pattern cavalry sword, made in 1891, with various approval stamps (Enfield small arms factory), later etched along one side of the blade with Wilkinson Sword Company company name and decoration. This was clearly an issued 1890 pattern sword, which was probably completely regulation, which after being replaced in service by the next pattern seems to have been used by Wilkinson as some sort of display or advertising piece, or perhaps as an award or gift item. The etching being only on one side suggests that the blade was perhaps only intended to be seen from one side, so perhaps mounted on a plaque, wall or in a window. The sword itself is in good condition, with a very good checkered grip, everything tight and solid. No scabbard.350
