ELC1053 - An 1803 pattern infantry officer's sabre by Osborn (dated 1803-1808), with 77cm blade carrying the GG stamp of the maker and the 'Warranted' engraving. The decorative engraving is faint, but includes the British royal motif, GR cypher and various trophies. The blade was clearly once gilded, with traces of the gilding remaining near the ricasso. The scabbard complete with all fittings, though the top locket is no longer still fixed in place. There is a bit of movement to the hilt on the tang. The shagreen and grip wire are very good for the age. A good complete example, by one of the top makers.
