EL6733 - An English officer's broadsword or shearing sword, of the late 17th century, perhaps around 1660-1700. Basket hilt of post-Mortuary hilt type, with Walloon influence. Double-edged blade, 33.5 inches long, with remnants of a maker's name, or perhaps the word SOLINGEN, and a running wolf type emblem. The wooden grip having lost most of the wire, but retaining one of the original Turk's head bindings. The blade with some grinding marks, perhaps either relating to the sharpening process (it has clearly been sharpened many times), or later cleaning. In solid condition, with no hilt movement.
