EL6724 - A Napoleonic era 1796 pattern light cavalry sabre. Very nice blade with smooth surface and minimal patina. The hilt design probably marks this as privately purchased for a regiment (Colonels sometimes equipped regiments from their own pocket) and the markings/numbers on the blade do suggest this was kept in a regimental armoury. The leather of the grip is about 90% intact, which is good for 200 years old. Even the leather washer is still there under the shoulders of the blade, and consequently the hilt is fairly firm on the tang, with only a tiny bit of movement. No scabbard unfortunately.
