EL6873 - A 1796 light cavalry troopers' sabre by Thomas Craven, who was actively using this naming form from 1798 to 1803 and again in 1818-1820. The blade is absolutely superb condition, with original polish and unsharpened (which might suggest the 1818-1820 date). The iron guard and backpiece are both very pitted from rust unfortunately, and the guard has a small crack at the front right-angle, though is stable and there is no free movement. The hilt is firm on the tang and the grip with leather covering is in good condition for the age. No scabbard. Feels great in the hand and the blade is really excellent.
