EL6172 - A 1796 pattern light cavalry officer's sabre. Blade with remains of decoration, including a little gilding near the hilt. The engraved decoration now very faint and the blade with some light pitting, but otherwise sound and in average condition overall. The steel guard and backstrap blackened and with light pitting, matching the scabbard, with some movement in the guard and ferrule. The grip with some loss to the shagreen, a small chip to the wood at the pommel end and the grip wire loose in places. This is a nice quality 1796 officer's sabre, which could be improved further with a little restoration, but is also presentable as it is.
